Golden State Water Company Completes Model Landscaping Project

Being water smart is imperative as Californians struggle with a statewide water shortage.  Californians need to learn new and creative ways to save water, especially outdoors where more than 60 percent of residential water is used.

Golden State Water Company (GSWC) recently completed a state-of-the-art water conservation garden and learning center at the company’s headquarters in San Dimas that will reduce the facility’s annual water consumption by up to 60 percent. The garden features over 25 different California-friendly plants, drought tolerant turf, and a water-wise, "smart" irrigation system. See news release.

The project is expected to pay for itself in less than five years.

Customers who would like to tour the model landscape should call 1-800-999-4033.

GSWC Enacts Water Conservation Measures

In spite of our continued efforts to encourage more efficient water usage and our investments in new water supply and distribution projects to protect every drop from source to tap, a water shortage has impacted our ability to provide water at the volume our customers are used to receiving.

As part of our conservation efforts, GSWC implemented a conservation program in accordance with Rule 14.1 established by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), which regulates Golden State Water Company. As a result,
GSWC encourages all consumers to voluntarily end “non-essential or unauthorized water uses.”

Schedule 14.1 Mandatory Water Conservation and Rationing

In addition to enacting a companywide voluntary conservation program, the California Public Utilities Commission approved water shortage plans for the following GSWC Customer Service Areas:Central Basin East and West (Southern Los Angeles County), Claremont, Los Alamitos (west Orange County), San Dimas, San Gabriel Valley, and Southwest (Southwest Los Angeles County).

Water Use Efficiency Programs

GSWC's Water Use Efficiency Department takes pride in offering programs to help residential homeowners, commercial/industrial businesses, and professional landscapers reduce their water usage. Visit your LOCAL WATER INFORMATION section on this Web site or see a companywide list of current programs here.

In addition to rebate programs, GSWC provides customers with free water conservation devices, including home conservation kits, low-flow bath and kitchen aerators, low-flow showerheads and water-efficient hose nozzles.  Any of these items can be picked-up at your local customer service office or you can request a free conservation kit by clicking here.
