Annual Water Quality Reports FAQ

Post

As part of Golden State Water Company’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality water, the company annually provides customers, state and local health agencies, and community leaders with water quality reports or Consumer Confidence Reports (CCRs). The reports provide detailed information about your water quality and the effort we make to ensure any water quality issues are fully addressed.

GSWC takes a proactive approach to sharing the annual water quality reports with customers. While we collect water samples throughout the year, the comprehensive results are compiled and made available annually on the website. Furthermore, the data is directly submitted by a State certified laboratory to the State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Drinking Water (DDW), and the data is recorded on the State’s website. This commitment to transparency ensures that customers have full access to water quality information.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my water safe to drink?

GSWC’s team of scientists, engineers, and water experts is dedicated to protecting our water systems and the public’s health. This commitment has consistently placed GSWC among the top water companies for compliance with water quality regulations. For sources that have contaminants detected above the standards, GSWC installs treatment systems to ensure that the water meets all quality standards. The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Drinking Water (DDW), a group of highly trained water quality experts, closely monitors all water testing and has confirmed that the water provided by GSWC meets all water quality standards (maximum contaminant levels/MCLs).

How are safe drinking water standards enforced?

GSWC proudly reports that the water delivered to your tap meets all federal and state quality standards established to protect public health and safety. Within the annual water quality reports, otherwise referred to as Consumer Confidence Reports, customers will find information regarding local water supply sources, testing, and the steps GSWC takes to ensure our water complies with standards set by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Drinking Water (DDW) and California Public Utilities Commission.

How do I know if contaminants were detected in my water?

Golden State Water’s scientists and water experts routinely test for contaminants. The sources of contaminants found in surface and groundwater can be naturally occurring or due to industrial and agricultural runoff.

If water standards were not being met, how would I know?

The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Drinking Water (DDW) monitors all water testing closely. If detection levels exceed allowable limits, GSWC is legally obligated to inform DDW, local government agencies, and customers immediately. GSWC’s annual Consumer Confidence Report would also indicate in the data tables if contaminants were detected above standard limits.
